ACE ACETO’S ROYAL FLUSH COMEDY SHOW

Ace Aceto’s Royal Flush Comedy Show is a fast moving, talent-packed show that brings tons of laughs a minute!  This very special show brings together 2 of New England’s favorite headlining comics, joined by one of New England’s favorite featured acts, and a new fresh face of comedy, all hosted by the charismatic, audience engaging, R.I. Comedy Hall of Famer, Ace Aceto!  You’re guaranteed to be dealt a winning hand every time!

The Ace – Ace Aceto

Growing up in an Italian/Catholic household and going to Catholic school as a kid has made Ace Aceto what he is today…inquisitive and irreverent!

Ace burst onto the comedy scene during the latter part of the stand-up comedy boom in 1989.  His first time on stage he immediately caught attention by placing second in a local comedy contest.  By 1990, Ace was chosen along with 9 other finalists to be filmed for Stand-Up Stand-Up and Short Attention Span Theater for Comedy Central (then known as The Comedy Channel).

A Rhode Island native, Ace worked clubs, colleges, and corporate dates up and down the east coast, before working on stage as Demetrius in Shakespeare’s “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream”.  In 1998 he completed his first starring film role, in the independent feature film “BoxedMan”, capturing attention from casting agents from Disney-Touchstone as well as 20th Century Fox.

With his instantly likable stage presence, and ability to walk the line between innocent boy-next-door and biting edge comic, Ace takes his audiences on a hysterical ride, performing dead on impressions of Casey Kasem, Gilbert Gottfried, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Peter & Stewie Griffin.  Throughout his shows, you never know what will come out of his mouth next, as he plows through hot topics like religion & dating, saying what most folks think, but are afraid to say.

Ace has worked with such comic luminaries as Jeff Dunham, Jim Breuer, Jim Gaffigan, Brian Regan, Kevin Meany, Jon Stewart, Dom Irerra, and Lewis Black (just to name a few).  Ace has also opened for such acts as Huey Lewis & The News, Luther Vandross, and David Cassidy.

Ace continues to be an audience favorite, headlining such clubs as Catch a Rising Star, The Comedy Factory, Joker’s Wild, and Newport Grand Casino.  In 2016, Ace was inducted into the Rhode Island Comedy Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Charlie Hall, Frank O’Donnell, and Tom Cotter.

The Joker – Don Zollo

Don has is a veteran of the Boston and LA comedy scenes and has performed all over the place in between. You may recognize him as pitchman for Dunkin Donuts or as costar of Superbowl champ Julian Edelman’s viral video series DDTYME.

Don’s comedy is centered around story telling adventures based on his experiences as a “Boston guy” adapting to the world outside of New England as well as everyday experiences, girlfriends and some out of the ordinary like playing football with Tom Brady or hanging with gang members in South Central LA.

“Don Zollo is what happens when a wicked comedic juggernaut blends with an unstoppable source of hyperbole”

-Winston Churchill

The Jack – Derek Moore

Since delving into the comedy world in 2012, Derek turned his attention to having a social media presence. Some of his works since have been featured on websites like DailyMotion.com and World Star Hip Hop. He is a writer and contributor for the popular social media app Hashtag Roundup. His written works have been featured on AbsrdNews.com and he currently produces digital content for GentlemansBeardBalm.com.

Born and raised in a broken, mixed Irish and Portuguese household provided the perfect beginnings for Derek’s future career. Having the natural ability to make people laugh, he was known as a class clown and would study greats like Robin Williams, Jim Carey and George Carlin to further hone his skills. As the years went on, Derek was known as “the funny friend” in all his circles.

After an injury required him to have knee surgery in 2011, Derek became immobilized and his mind began to race. It was at this point he began writing his thoughts out and tested them on friends and family.  Finally, after plenty of testing; in 2012 Derek stepped back onto a stage and hasn’t stepped off since. His infectious energy and innate ability to draw the crowd in makes Derek K. Moore one of the funniest and highest demanded comics in his home state. The Queen – Linda Belt

Linda Belt is a New Jersey native (a comedy routine in itself). She moved to CT in 1987 where she became a suburban pillar of the community attending PTO meetings and baseball games. Linda became very tired holding up that pillar and instead holds her own as a professional stand up comic. Her humor touches on the absurdities of modern life and explores marriage, sex, parenting and social mores, in other words: any subject she feels like discussing!

Linda has performed throughout the US and Canada and has been featured in a number of comedy festivals, including the Hogtown Comedy Festival (Toronto) the Detroit Comedy Festival, the Long Island Comedy Festival, The Women in Comedy Festival (Boston), Laugh Your Asheville Off, Asheville, NC and the Boston Comedy Festival. Her many venues have included: The Comedy Stop at the Tropicana (Atlantic City) Mohegan Sun with Tree House Comedy, Turning Stone Casino, Broadway Comedy Club (NYC) & The Laugh Factory (NYC) as part of the “Broads of Broadway” show, The Comedy Cove ( New Jersey), Yuk Yuks International: Toronto & Halifax, Brew Ha Ha Comedy Club at City Steam (Hartford), Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle (Detroit), Magooby’s (Baltimore), Snickerz Comedy Club (Ft. Wayne, IN) Bonkerz Comedy Club (Various Locations), Comedy Zone (Various Locations), Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. As a full-time working comic, she can be found at various local & national venues, fundraisers , private and corporate events.

Linda was profiled in the Hartford Courant, The Chicago Tribune and The New Jersey Star Ledger. She has appeared on affiliates of NBC and ABC as well as PBS.

The King – Paul Nardizzi

Paul Nardizzi is an American stand-up comedian based in the Boston, Massachusetts area. Nardizzi is the winner of the 2001 Boston Comedy Festival, and HBO’s U.S. Comedy and Arts Festival in 1997. He has appeared on the television programs Evening at the Improv and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Nardizzi has authored the books 602 Reasons To Be Pissed Off and The Sarcastic Sports Trivia Book. He is also the co-author of the books Things That Might Annoy a Yankee Fan and Things That Might Annoy a Jets Fan.

Alex Shillo and Badlands

Alex Shillo and Badlands

Saturday, July 7, 9:00pm

Alex Shillo might have been raised in Manchester, CT, but the young singer-songwriter is as worldly as the most. His Dad’s influence, and his hero Bruce Springsteen shows in his eclectic brand of Rock/Country music

Alex’s tribute to Bruce Springsteen, is made up of top-notch musicians from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island who have performed with artists such as Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Johnny Mathis, Gloria Gaynor, and John Cafferty to name a few. Their ability to capture the essence of “The Boss’ both with their spot-on vocal harmonies and advanced instrumental abilities makes them the top choice for a Springsteen Tribute act.

Despite his young age, the multi-instrumentalist has experienced a lot of life. Alex spent a lot of his life on the CT Shorline, cut his teeth as a touring musician with his Dad’s band Silverado.

Alex has been enthralled by the music business ever since he was a real young boy and has gotten to enjoy different areas of the industry. His experience started at a very young age in large part (if not entirely!) because his father, Carl Shillo, founder/leader/singer/songwriter of the band SILVERADO. In the late 70’s and early 80’s Silverado were signed to RCA records, had songs on the Billboard charts, toured the world with Steppenwolf and a bunch others.

When Alex was growing up, there was always a recording studio in their home and it was like a revolving door of different musicians, song writers and record producers. He was lucky to learn a great deal about the art of recording, performing and songwriting from a young age!

Because of his background, he always felt comfortable in the recording studio and on a stge. So when he began to compose his own songs, it was such a rewarding experience to him.

Playing live came easy as well. He and his brother Andrew formed a few bands at a very young age and regularly played the local scene. Plus, when Silverado (With Alex on Rhythm Guitar and support Vocals) decided to recently tour again up and down the East Coast opening for major acts like Big & Rich, Jerrod Niemann, and many others with Silverado, he rose to that challenge as well.

Chicago Total Access - "A Tribute to Chicago"

Saturday, July 14, 9:00pm

New England’s premier tribute to the band, Chicago.
This is a hi-energy, explosive show band dedicated to covering the band’s catalog that spans over 45 years. The audience will have “total access” to the music of Chicago. Chicago Total Access is a music group made up of 10 talented musicians which all grew up listening to American and British pop/rock, jazz, blues, rhythm and blues, Motown, acid rock and music from the 40’s, 50’s,60’s and 70’s as well as classical music from the ages. Our music is dedicated to the music of the American rock band “Chicago”. There is no other American rock n roll band with horns that has influenced more musicians, is loved by millions of people worldwide, and has become such a deep part of Americana as the band Chicago. Since 1967, 46 years of sold out concerts, millions of record sales and legions of cheering fans worldwide Chicago is still going strong in 2013. The members of Chicago Total Access have attempted to recreate a slice of the timeless musical catalog of Chicago as well as stay true to the spirit of the original recordings. We hope you enjoy our efforts! The liner notes of their first recording titled “The Chicago Transit Authority” still inspire us and I hope you as well. “The printed word can never aspire to document a truly musical experience, so if you must call them something, speak of the city where all save one were born; where all of them were schooled and bred, and where all of this incredible music went down barely noticed; call them CHICAGO.”

“Merchants of Cool” was an idea that came about in the spring of 2011 to guitarist Mike Silva. He was looking for another project that would entertain people, make them dance and give them a lot of good memories. With Foreigner’s vast array of hit songs, like “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Hot Blooded,” “Cold As Ice” and more, it seemed like a great choice.
The band hits the nail on the head with every song!

The Joker – Ryan Gartley

This New England native and 20 year comedy veteran has been performing in clubs, colleges and bars all across the country – from Las Vegas to Bangor, Maine. With his quick, critical observations and dry “family-style” humor he’s made a name for himself as one of the hardest working acts out there.

The Jack – Jessica Leigh

Having both anxiety and a degree in psychology, she uses humor from her relatable, real life. Since being a little crazy is one of her greatest assets, she can make your day a little better with a laugh. Believing that laughter is one of the most important elements of life, combined with being a hot mess, she puts together a unique perspective on stage that she has used all over shows in New England. Fellow comedians, along with a set of friends and family that are maladjusted to social norms, have inspired her to be her true self both on and off the stage. Due to her ability to overanalyze any given situation, she’ll keep you guessing at what she is about to say.

The Queen – Poppy Champlin

There’s just something about Poppy. She is a veteran comic whose sharp wit and intuitive jokes can penetrate the he…art of any discerning audiences funny bone. Looking urban cool she erupts onto the stage, with a hip, fearless and in your face style of comedy. Spitting out jokes, quips, songs, impressions, interactions, bird calls and with deep resources to draw from, all of Poppy’s’ shows can be described as spin art – “No two alike.” Poppy is crackerjack at the craft of Improv. Throw anything at her and watch as she magically turns it into comedic fodder. Having graduated from the University of R.I with a degree in Theatre she then went on to the Famed Chicago Second City Improv School. Champlin is one of the quickest witted comedians working either coast today. She has a wild and roaming spontaneity, which makes each show actually; feel like one of a kind. She is a powerful performer who can glide between practiced patter and off the cuff insightful improvisation. Poppy’s experience with classic standup and Improv, gives her a double-barreled flexibility that works particularly well with her subjects of choice. Besides Poppy’s deep comedic chops, she actually has a seriously good voice that she puts to use during her performance making sure to end every show on a good note.

The King – Jim McCue

A mixture of witty “A-list material” and his ability to work off-script has earned Jim McCue the title “Boston’s King of Crowd Work!” It’s not only his height of six foot six that makes Jim stand head and shoulders above club comedians of the “stick-to-the-script” variety. Jim blends thought-provoking material and uncanny improv skills with a style that encourages audience participation. No two shows are ever the same!

Jim has been featured on Comedy Central, Comcast Comedy Spotlight, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” and “Roughing It” on NESN in his native New England. Jim also founded and currently runs The Boston Comedy Festival. He works in top comedy clubs in Boston, Las Vegas, New York, Dublin, Montreal and Edinburgh.

Since 1999 Jim has also entertained U.S. troops at more than 100 bases around the world. An account of his experiences performing for the troops has recently been published in Embedded Comedian which Jim describes as a “field manual for comedians in a war zone.”

With his unique act, Jim keeps the audience on its toes. Volleying between set material and working the crowd, Jim cracks jokes with amazing timing and whip-like precision. A unique blend that is sure to leave the audience roaring with laughter!
