Newport Grand Hosts 2007 Newport Winter Festival Events
Newport, RI – January 22, 2007 – Newport Grand, located at 150 Admiral Kalbfus Road, is pleased to serve as a venue for several events – from free concerts and karaoke competitions to martini contests and dueling pianos – during the 2007 Newport Winter Festival. In addition, Newport Grand will offer a free order of buffalo wings with each Winter Festival button, valid Monday through Saturday.
The events held at Newport Grand are just some of the many offerings of the 2007 Newport Winter Festival, running from February 16th to February 25th at locations throughout Newport. With over 160 individual events, the Newport Winter Festival has become “New England’s largest winter extravaganza,” offering a unique winter experience combining food, music and entertainment for all ages.
All events at Newport Grand are free with a Newport Winter Festival button, unless noted. Winter Festival buttons cost $8 and are available at the Newport Gateway Center and many local businesses. Comedy and Songs of Bruce Jacques
Sunday, February 18th, 8:30 pm - 12:30 am at Club Royale
Enjoy the comedic and musical genius of Bruce Jacques who pokes fun at yesterday’s and today’s biggest pop stars including Devo, Guns & Roses, and Britney Spears. His repertoire of popular songs has the whole audience singing and laughing along. This event is free with festival button and open to the public, 18 years of age and older. 4th Annual Karaoke Contest
Tuesday, February 20th from 8:00 pm – 12:00 midnight at Club Royale
The 4th Annual Karaoke Contest brings a taste of “American Idol” to Newport Grand’s Club Royale, where the first 20 contenders who sign up for the contest on the evening of the 21st will compete for the title of Newport Winter Festival’s Karaoke Champion. 7th Annual Martinis, Manhattans & More Drink Contest
Wednesday, February 22nd from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Club Royale
Bartenders from across the state will be mixing, shaking, and stirring delicious concoctions to compete for prizes and bragging rights to the best cocktails, determined by a panel of celebrity judges. This event is open to guests 21 years of age and older.

Bandstand Revue
Friday, February 23r, 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight at Club Royale
Club Royale hosts this free concert with Southern New England’s favorite oldies showband. Seating is limited to catch this group covering hits of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. List Academy “For Your Eyes Only” Academy Awards Party
Sunday, February 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Club Royale
Inspired by the hit movie Casino Royale and hosted by legendary songstress Saucy Silvia; dress like a Bond girl or a movie star, and walk the red carpet at this pre-Oscar party. Guests will receive the celebrity treatment, complete with hors d’oeuvres and a host of entertainment, including: a live musical revue performed by List Academy actors, raffles, a silent auction, and awards for the best dressed. The event will culminate with a live showing of the 79th Annual Academy Awards, starting at 8:00 p.m.
